Ice Formations

Winter Beach

Venture along the world's longest freshwater beach and witness how our white sandy shores transform into dramatic ice sculpted landscapes during the winter season. While you're there, soak up the stunning backdrop of South Georgian Bay. Follow along the water's edge and front the brisk winds of Lake Huron or take shelter along Shore Lane Trail which follows the waterfront set-back amidst the trees.
Warning!
Enjoy the ice formations from a distance and do not climb on them as they are not stable and actually sit on top of moving lake water. If you are not careful, these can be quite dangerous.

Snowmobiling

Wasaga Beach is a snowmobile hotspot during the winter season, with trails and pit stops to keep you busy! Wasaga is situated on the receiving end of the lake-effect snow that comes of Georgian Bay - and that means snow - lots of it! Along the local snowmobile routes you will find full-service accommodation, restaurants, repair stations and fueling stations.

Nordic Skiing & Snowshoeing

Wasaga Beach offers some of the most exciting Nordic ski terrains in Central Ontario with 24.2km of groomed trails, but also mixed-use and 7.6 kilometers of dedicated snowshoe trails throughout town. Expert skiers can challenge themselves on the High Dunes Trail while beginner skiers can choose the more leisurely Blueberry Trail, with something for all experience levels in-between.
Rentals, Trails and more

Wasaga Beach Nordic Center

Operated by the Wasaga Beach Provical Park, the Wasaga Beach Nordic Centre is a hub for outdoor activity. In the winter months, it serves operated the groomed ski and snowshoe trails, and serves as the main rental location for Nordic Skis, snowshoes, and fatbikes.
Ice Times

Ice Skating & Hockey

Figure skating, hockey, and casual ice times are all popular winter pastimes in Wasaga. Whether you are looking for a casual outing with your friends or to fine-tune your skills with more private ice time, there are plenty of opportunities for you in Wasaga Beach and the surrounding area. Each location offers a variety of options including adult, tot, free-skating, hockey, or figure-skating.

Fat Biking

Winter in Wasaga Beach does not limit opportunities to get out and explore our trails in many different ways. A relatively new sport, Fatbiking allows biking enthusiasts to get out even in the winter. These winterized bikes with their "fat" tires are a fun way to see the sites and get moving in the winter.
